Khamsin release new single, "Limbs As Pages (Pt. 2)"
By Cassie Whitt
Nashville, Tennessee indie/post-hardcore trio Khamsin (FFO: Turnover, Balance & Composure, HRVRD) have dropped a new single from their impending debut full-length What's Left Of Life, set for release May 13, 2022.
The dreamy, contemplative "Limbs As Pages (Pt. 2)" is the successor of the eponymous track from the band's 2014 EP I've Only Been A Thief, which vocalist Jacob Curry describes as "musings on mortality and impermanence in the nebulous state of someone transforming from high school to college age." Part one opens with the line, "Are you worth your weight in gold?" Part two completes that thought: "My body is not worth its weight in gold."
"Limbs As Pages (Pt. 2)" comes off the recent loss of Curry's father, which would go on to inform a loose thread that runs through What's Left Of Life. "The new album is about my dad passing away in 2018," explains Curry. "I revisit a lot of ideas from that original song while updating and revamping it"
"It was an exploration of transience and mortality. With the similar themes of our upcoming record, I figured it made sense to revisit "...Limbs" and re-craft it."
ABOUT KHAMSIN
Khamsin began as the reverb-laden solo project of Jacob Curry. After moving to Nashville and recruiting friends to flesh out his songs, the music took a turn towards lyrically based, emo-infused indie rock with jagged, linear guitar riffs and a rolling rhythm section. As a full band, including Cole Harrison (bass) and Darin Harger (drums/percussion), the group has shared the stage with a variety of acts throughout the Midwest and East Coast including The Appleseed Cast, Valleyheart, Salt Creek, and Mess. After a string of EPs and numerous regional tours, Khamsin are set to release their debut LP What’s Left of Life? on May 13, 2022.
